What is Pathways?
Pathways are three swimming session options that are designed to bridge the gap between learn to swim lessons and competitive swimming. We aim to introduce swimmers into the City of Coventry Swimming Club, or if already a member of the Learn to Swim Scheme within the club this will introduce those swimmers to the competitive side of the club. Whilst swimmers are in these groups, they continue to develop all strokes, starts, turns and rules of competitive swimming whilst still maintaining their current learn to swim lessons. All pathway swimmers are members of Coventry Swim School.
The three options are designated by:
FRIDAY’S
This is a session either 6.05-7.05pm or 7.05-8.05pm and works alongside the below sessions on a Sunday. The cost of these sessions is £27.00 per month. The aim of the sessions are for members to develop skills and aptitude to join City of Coventry Swimming Club.
SUNDAY YOUNGER
This group is by invitation only and meets for a period of 10-12 weeks. These sessions run on Sundays from 3.00-4.00pm at the Alan Higgs Centre. Swimmers are charged £27.00 per month for the course by direct debit. The group is targeted for 10 years and under. At the end of the course swimmers are invited to join the Club Training Squads or given feedback on which skills they need to improve in order to be invited into the club. There are three courses per year, running roughly alongside school term dates and swimmers are assessed at the end of the term.
SUNDAY OLDER
This group is like the younger group and swims on a Sunday from 4.00-5.00pm at the Alan Higgs Centre. This group is targeted for 11 years and over. Some younger swimmers may be invited into the group if it is felt swimming with the older ones will benefit them more. The cost of this group is £27.00 per month. The aim of the group is for members to develop skills and aptitude to join City of Coventry Swimming Club.
We encourage swimmers in the Pathways group to attend both a Friday and a Sunday session to help them develop the skills ready for potentially moving into the competitive side of the sport and Club. If two sessions per week are attended then the cost is £35.00/month.

Who is pathways for?
Once your child has reached Stage 6-7 there a number of options available to them.
They can look into the pathways scheme to take their swimming further. Alternatively, they could consider water polo or non-competitive groups should they so wish.
